Guest guest
Namaste: Sometimes, I find myself frustrated that I am working hard, but only gaining material benefits. The big picture is gone, and only the minute details remain. Since I am self employed, I work many hours in front of a computer and talk to clients by phone, and do not interact with anyone face to face. Many years ago, Swami gave me a simple method to solve this problem: working on some project or task that is " bigger than myself " . For example: today I was very bogged down and " in my head " . I could not think straight nor stay focused on a task, and felt tired and listless. I remembered that some task needed to be completed at the Mandir, and e mailed Swami and asked if it had been finished. He asked if I could come right over and complete it. Suddenly I had a purpose, one that was " bigger than me " , serving the Master. I hurried over, and literally jumped into the task, full of energy, focus, and clarity. Time and again I have experienced that the cure for my self centeredness is to focus on a " higher purpose " . Thanks to Maa and Swami for giving me that " higher purpose " .
