Question from Roma:I would like to an anushthaan of 1,00,008 japas of the "OM NAMAHA SHIVAY" mantra and another of the "OM AIM HRIM KLIM CHAMUNDAYAI VICCE" mantra.

How many malas would I need to do in order to complete this? What is the process of counting the malas when one is doing japa without homa?Swamiji's response:To make japa of 100,008 mantras , you will to do 926 malas. We generally do 1000 malas, offering the extra malas as dakshina to the required dhaan.Because your sankalpa is 1 lakh mantras, the same formula will apply to both the Shiva and Navarna mantras.

Thank you for your response.

One more question. When counting on a mala, how many

rounds are needed to complete one mantra for example

" OM NAMAH SHIVAY " ? Or does one bead equal to the full

mantra, in this case, " OM NAMAH SHIVAY " .

Thank you.

Namaste Roma,

Swamiji says that it is " One mantra, one bead. "

Hope this helps.

Nandaji,

Thank you. That helps. I was confused because somebody

said I should count differently.

Love,

Roma
