Namaste: Verse #5 from Shankar Acharaya, Advanced Shiva Puja Text by

Swami, " Sit down in a quiet, conducive and comfortable environment,

and contemplate the Supreme Divinity. Look into yourself with the

fullness of consciousness, and see the bondage of the gross world to

the soul, and reduce your necessity for action in the world. Don't

allow your thoughts to be bound by karma, with the strength of wisdom

free your mind from bondage. Experience the fruits of your prarabda

karna, the actions performed in the past, the fruits of which are

being experienced in the present, and after the past karma is

complete, with an attitude of one mind, go to the realms of Union with

the Highest divinity and remain there. "

This is a key verse for me: " reduce the necessity for action " ,

because as a householder and businessman I have many responsibilities

which can really fill my time. My wife and I sat with Swami several

years ago and made a plan which would allow us to retire and devote

ourselves to seva for the Mandir. Otherwise, we may have been tempted

by the wonders of the relative to spend more money to amass more

stuff. NOw we work the plan, and spend as much time as possible at

the Mandir. That really keeps us grounded and helps remind us of our

purpose.

The time we have for puja and worship is really precious now, and we

thank Maa and Swami that they have given us so much support, and a

wonderful Temple in which to worship.

Jai Ma Jai Swami
