Guest guest
Namaste Shankari Kali: I think it is never too late to offer the fruits of our understanding to our children. As long as we are not attached to their acceptance of the knowledge. As beings evolving side by side with our children towards Self Realization, how can we know how when it is time for someone to take the medicine of knowledge to cure their ignorance? We can only offer the medicine. When it is their proper time, they will be ready for the cure and will thrive. As Shree Maa has said many times, we do our best with our children, and know that God will take care of them. I have watched Maa work with Her children for 10 years now and I have learned one thing: She is not attached to the results of Her actions. Simply put, She offers advice, and each accepts according to their nature. She always offers in love, and does not weep or fret if they do not follow Her advice. She offers all a safe haven at the Ashram, Her home, but, if they do not follow the rules, She will ask them to leave. Just like any Mother, She wishes Her children to grow and expand into God's light, but, She knows each has their own path to follow. My older children who live away from us, were raised surrounded with the practice and knowledge of meditation, but, when they became self aware, they rejected the knowledge and practice, and followed their own path. Now, in their 30's they have begun to re-awake to the more subtle nature of life, and these buried teachings are coming to the surface of their awareness and being integrated into their lives in unique ways. So, I continue to pray for them daily, and I have faith that Maa will provide everything for them in exactly the right amount at exactly the right time. Besides, worry and fretting does not help matters one bit. Use all your worry energy, and turn it into positive prayers for God to guide and support them perfectly. Guest guest
Namaste Vish: Well, in my family I am the only one who is Hindu, and I became fully Hindu only 8 months ago. I have said japa to Ganesha and japa to Shiva, but I have never put enough commitment into learning scriptures or learning puja for example. I also had a Kali Yantra in my house, but I did not even begin to know how to worship her. Point is, if I am so confused and mixed up about my own religion, how can I teach my children with any seriousness. I have attempted to teach them through modelling. I have attempted to show them moral behavior, and I continued to reach for more understanding myself. I used to blame my husband for some of my kid's atheism, but I realized that the kid has his/her own karmas, and they have their own mind. Sometimes they are so different from the parent one wonders how in the world they got that way. Hinduism is hopeful. We all reach enlightenment someday, and Ramakrishna was accepting of all religions. Even atheism has its purpose.
