NAMASTE SANKAR:

I mentioned in a post several evenings ago that the camphor offering

is done in the Chandi. This is technically incorrect. That said,

most Sundays, when we chant the Chandi with Maa and Swami, Swami will

chant the mantra for camphor after light and incense.

I have learned that the pujas become highly personalized over time.

For example, I add and subtract verses and sections owing to time

constraints. They are our personal method for talking to and

strengthening our relationship with the Divine, so they are subject to

change.

That said, I firmly agree that we should learn the pujas, chanting,

homa, etc. properly, according to the Gurus and their tradition which

we follow, then, once we have learned them properly, we can customize

them to suit ourselves.

i practiced Shiva puja for Beginners in English for many months until

i could learn the pronunciation properly, and many times, I have

offered fruit, flower, etc, mentally, when I did not have the proper

articles of worship.

For me, the bottom line was this: I always tried to do my best, and

offered my love and thanks to God, in whatever form I worshiped. That

is my goal every time is sit to worship.

Jai Maa jai shiva

vishweshwar, thank you for telling us about practicing the Shiva puja

in English for several month before you did it in Sanskrit. That is

very encouraging as you are doing it so amazingly well now.

I keep on practicing and still working on the pronounciation. I

guess I have a few more months to go to get it down. It does become

easier as time moves on.

Thank you for all your help. Sorry this was not about camphor.

Namaaste Devi Kula,

I suppose I had the impression one was to offer

Camphor from watching Swaamiji's Cosmic Puja videos,

and since he says the Cosmic Puja is derived from the

Chandi, I thought that it applied to the Chandi as

well, and for some reason was not included in the

text. Do we not offer the flowers with the ete gandha

pushpe om gam ganapataye namaha in Chandi recitations?

When I started offering flowers, touching them to my

heart then the forhead and offering to the diety and

then offering them in rows that it increased the depth

of my devotion and concentration in the practice ( I

haven't learned formal Cosmic Puja vidhi and from the

video Im still confused about how to place the flowers

and so Im sure it is improper practice). So it's still

in the puja baby phase of learning the most basic

actions.

That said, the idea that the puja takes on it's own

personal flavour for each devotee over the progress in

one's sadhana makes good intuitive sense and the fact

that Swamiji says that just because our worship is

flawed does not mean the divine will not accept or

appreciate the spirit of the worship. It certainly

seems so, because even though the offerings were

incorrect, the devotion and love for Maa is much more

palpable. In any case I will start with the basics,

deepam dhoopam and pushpam?. The clairty of the Devi

Mandir Kula members is a great blessing!
