OM NAMAH SIVAYA

Dan i would offer another perspective you might want to consider.

first i think Vishweshwar is right the more japa the better. japa

changes your perceptual direction, so instead of running away from

home, with japa you see you're running to Home. and as Swamiji said

whether ashrams or the world, most have a what's in it for me

mentality. the only exception to this phenomenon is The Divine Mother.

She already and always Loves you and accepts you just as you are. no

strings attached. besides most issues you would use an ashram to get

away from, in Reality are going to follow you no matter where you run.

and while to worship in your home, with family around may be very

challenging, if you are up to the challenge it is twice as nice.

because to worship in seclusion or in an ashram is an opportunity

change yourSelf by cultivating your Love of God through worship to the

fire, a yantra, or to a image of God. and this no doubt has profound

impact on an individual. but to worship in the world, in your home,

around your family, you are given the opportunity to project that Love

you have for God onto your family. to treat them as God. and while

they may not even be interested in spiritual practice or will not know

you are worshipping them, in my experience your projecting Divinity

onto them will slowly change their consciousness. so consequently

this circumstance is twice as nice because it not only uplifts the

soul of the worshipper but also soul of the worshipped. God luck.
