" When Markandeya was reciting the Chandi Path he was aware that in the future

human beings would become beset with thought and they would forget about their

divinity. He wrote this work as a tool for us to use to remind ourselves of our

divine heritage and our divine nature. That was his motivation in preserving

this tradition for us. He wanted to inspire people who are caught in the bondage

of maya, in the web of egotism, selfishness, and self centered thought. He

wanted to inspire us to more noble conduct so we could remember our divine

origin. "
