" Most of the Chandi Path is written in Anustup Chanda which means there are 32

syllables to

the verse. There are 16 syllables to the line. There are 8 syllables to the half

line. We could

breathe at the quarter of a verse, the half of a verse, or we could breathe at

the end of a full

verse. Once you have got the rhythm, the feeling, the bhava, the mathematical

formula down,

your knowledge of Sanskrit will flow because it is just a mathematical formula

through which

we are regulating our breath. The 4th step of the eight steps of yoga is

pranayama and we

are controlling our breath through the pronunciation of mantras. "
