My mother has bipolardisorder, I called her last night to tell her about myrecent success of getting 96% on my organic chemistryexam. She was in a manic swing, and accused me oflying about my grades, and demanded that I fax her theproof, and then accused me treating her badly which isanything but the truth. Even though it's a disorder,it is a huge lesson not to take things personally andnot to be hurt. Im actually seeking proffesional helpon how to deal with this disorder. I was upset with mymother for not sharing the joy with me and castingdoubt on all my very hard work, it was then afterreading this poem, and the Kathamrita that I realisedI could share the joy with Maa and celebrate with Maa,and pine for Maa. As I read the chapters in theChandi, I saw Maa slicing up all of my thoughts aboutmy mother, and all my mother's thoughts about me.Thanks Tanmaya and Usha for the great reminders!Jai Maa Ki Jai! Dear Eric ~ taking things personally is one of my biggest obstacles, so I completely understand. Even though you know what is going on with your mother, the "child" still longs for his mother's approval and happiness in his success. My own mother, who was very estranged from me because of my previous partner, would be so happy to know that David and I are back together. Actually, I should say happy knowing we are together, for I believe she knows. And even though we were estranged, I was with her when she died, along with my daughter and sister ... a tremendous blessing. Congratulations on doing so very well on your grades, and congratulations also for coming to and sharing the realization that you could celebrate your joy with Maa.
