Hi!

As Vish said, Sunday is Guru Purnima.

I was just wondering if anyone has any special plans, or if they would

like to share how they intend to honor their Guru(s) on Sunday. I

think I'll do a Guru Gita homa.

What are you doing?

Jai Maa!

Chris,Sorry to miss that tomorrow. I'll be with my Bishop volunteering at the Rehab center in Ollala for Sunday's Mass. Nevertheless, Mother is always with me~ps/my reseaarch in doing Chandi Puja is going well. I'am using the GSR, and there seems to be a consistant pattern in decreasing obstacles and increasing light...day by day, the cosmic energy is shifting that states that mantra recitation with MahaDevyam is working so that I can write up a nice breif paper for my class. I had, with Swami's help, come to discern that I did take on too much to do, so I narrowed it down, in terms of time, to one hour a day. I have another research class that is going on now, so I'm busi 7 days a week!Jai

Hi Chris,Contingent on some special assignments at her workplace, for which Kumari has been asked to standby this weekend, she and I will to go to the Devi Mandir for the morning Chandiphat. That would be the Heart of the day for us if it materializes. If it does not, we'll participate in subtle form at a distance. Bless these new-fangled computers! In addition to that, I will try to be as perfect a representative of the ideal way of life presented to us so lovingly by Swamiji and Shree Maa as possible, according to the principle: "the best way to honor the Guru is to be a perfect reflection of the teachings of the Guru".Thirdly, in order to know which right behavior, attitude, etc. to reflect moment by moment (since circumstances are constantly changing throughout the day) I will also have to keep the mind in a silent, fluid, attentive state. As an oil painter prepares the canvas, the first layer is Silence of mind (chitta-vritti-nirodhah), the second layer is the felt, living Presence of the Divine Devi, (with or without mantra-s). And the third layer is the materialized three-dimensional picture: my lotus-offering to the Guru-Goddess in that moment of Time. That would be a good day indeed...and, in describing it, I am feeling it even now in the Heart. So, wishing you the Best for Guru Purnima, I'll now keep Silent in the Guru's Presence.Your friend,Tanmaya , "Chris Kirner" <chriskirner1956 wrote:>> Hi!> > As Vish said, Sunday is Guru Purnima. > > I was just wondering if anyone has any special plans, or if they would> like to share how they intend to honor their Guru(s) on Sunday. Maa Nithya Prabu told me to come to Temple and to bring my dhoti to

change into. I will then mix the bath water for the giant stone

murti and the smaller metal murties. I will mix sandal paste too.

Thereafter I will follow the directives of the Brahman/s and Maa

Prabu. Also a Guru Puja will take place.

Jai Maa and Jai Sri Swamiji This auspcious day of the GURU POORNIMA is indeed a very special occasion to rededicate our commitments, perseverance and humble namaskars to all our GURUS, in all their forms, roopas, and avatars, as we bow our collective heads and hearts at their lotus feet. It is not often that we get this unique and abundantly fulfilling opportunity to thank them for their selfless , everlasting, and consistent flow of love, advice and good thoughts that transmit their energies and knowledge to us, whether we are half hearted or somewhat devoted abyasis. Let the full moon of vidya become our lighthouse of budhi, as we try harder to remove our avidya and doubts. Jai Maa Kali, the remover of darkness. I am reminded constantly of their nature of their presence and lives, as we mundanely question the eternal truths, that have been proven . So said

the sages of the past: " Akhanda mandalakaaram Vyaaptam Yena Charaacharam Tatpadam Darshitham Yena Tasmai Shrii Gurave Namah" " Chaitanyam Shaashvatam Shaantham Vyomaathitam Nirajanam Nadaa Bindu Kalaatiitam Tasmai Shrii Gurave Namah" " Gurur Brahmaa Gurur Vishnuhu Gurur Devo Maheshwaraha Gurur Shakshaath Parabrahmaa Tasmai Shrii Gurave Namah" How lucky we are to enjoy these fleeting moments in our own lifetimes. Let us make these last forever, as we offer our hearty pranams. Jai Shree Maa Jai Shri Swamiji babu

Sounds great, Tanmaya! I hope you got to go to the Chandi recitation.

I like how you describe putting your bhava on in three layers,

silence, presence, and activity. That's great!

Happy Guru Purnima!

That really sounds like a wonderful time, ananda_kaanta. To spend any

day in a temple is a blessing.

Hi Eric,

I honestly don't know what they're doing at the Devi Mandir this year

- no one has said.

Traditionally, I understand that Guru Purnima is the time when the

student returns to the guru for further instruction, but I have known

it only as time to particularly remember and honor your guru(s) for

all you have received.

Most celebrations I've heard of involve a satsanga. As many students

as can, gather and sing and pay honor to their guide and inspiration.

It's late in the day now (5:44 PM), so I hope you found a personally

meaningful way to express your love and gratitude.

Jai Maa!
