Guest guest
Namaste Papia: I feel the answer is " yes " . God is in everything, and when you chant the mantras, the food becomes prasad, sacred and holy. Then, you offer it will mantras to the " God in each being " , and they eat this divine blessed food. They are blessed by it. I eat chicken and fish, and Maa sometimes cooks it for us. She knows what each of us needs to grow closer to God, for body, mind, and spirit, and She blesses the fish, and it is the best fish I ever ate in my life. Pure and simple, the TRUTH. There is a story of a Shiva devotee, a simple man, a hunter. The only offering he could make to Shiva was some of the game he had killed to feed his family. Shiva accepted it and blessed the man. So, bless all food you prepare from the time you purchase it to the time you serve it. Thru all steps, chant the mantra, quietly inside, or aloud, and the food will become prasad. Just think, when you do puja, you put the letters of the mantra, for example, Shiva's name, onto the tips of your fingers, then onto your body. So, everything you touch, and everything which touches you, is blessed by Shiva. You become Shiva, indeed, you are Shiva. So, it goes to reason that everything you offer with love and respect, whether is it food, conversation, work projects, house cleaning, or bathing your children: everything is blessed by Shiva. What a blessing. What a gift Maa and Swami have given us. Now, just pass it on to everyone. Guest guest
Namaste Vishweshwar and thank you so much for your response! You have no idea what a great load you have just taken off my mind. I have been agonizing over whether it was okay to bless the chicken or fish that I cook for dinner. And you have resolved it so simply and beautifully. Thank you again!
