Chanting Chandi Path/ Kundalini Awakening

Namaste: Maa and Swami are teaching us constantly that devotion and

knowledge are 2 sides of the same coin. For example, if I love

someone, I want to learn how to please them, how to take care of them,

how to help my relationship with them grow stronger. Knowledge and

devotion go hand in hand. They teach us using the Tantric philosophy,

the weaving together of all the different " threads " , or techniques,

to create a beautiful and integrated fabric, a realized human being.

The chanting of the Chandi contains within it: pranayama, asan,

chanting, and even singing and dancing-aarti. The intellectual

understanding of the mantras, and the devotional aspect: the love of

Mother.

Regarding our experiences of Kali in the Chandi, and in our heart,

Swami explained tonight in class, that Maa Kali is terrifying to Her

enemies: the negativity within us, and nurturing and loving towards

the positive loving aspect of our True Nature. He said: Where else

can we unify these 2 totally different and opposite natures, than in

the Divine Mother Herself?

In my life, I think of Shree Maa as Kali, or Durga, or Lakshmi, or

Saraswati, depending on the state of consciousness I am experiencing.

If I am in a state of self deprecation, She is Kali, and i am uneasy

and hesitant around Her because my own negativity " fears " its demise

in Her presence. Or, if I am feeling very positive and happy, I

experience Her as Lakshmi because She feeds my heart with divine love,

and enhances my compassionate nature.

She is the same, Divine Shakti, She does not change. It is my ego

which feels blissful or fearful around Her. She radiates pure love,

She is pure love. She does not judge or find fault. She only has my

best interest at heart.

So, knowledge helps us to understand the play of consciousness in all

of its multiplicity, while devotion and faith helps us to overcome

fear and doubts and unite heart and mind. And knowledge and devotion

united help us to " decide " to surrender to Her. Once we surrender,

and keep surrendering and do not resist change, then She can really

bestow Her Grace on us.

Hi Shankari,

In the past Swamiji has recommended that someone who is having bad

dreams should chant chapter twelve of the Chandi. I don't know how, or

even whether you should, integrate this with your current program of

Chandi recitation, but thought I should mention it. You might just

give it a try and see...

You are so right, Vish. Our experience of Divine Mother is as

endlessly variable, compassionate, and powerful as our circumstances

and presence with Her allow. She is our beloved Mother, God and companion.

Namaste Vish,

Thanks for this very beautiful post, like our dear Chris says "Our experience of Divine Mother is as endlessly variable, compassionate, and powerful as our circumstances and presence with Her allows. She is our beloved Mother, God and companion."

It is very difficult for me though, to think of self- deprecation and Goddess Kali or Beloved Shree Maa since Maa and Kali are the ones who always bring that joy and peace to my heart and sorroundings. They are the ones whom I greet, thank, smile with daily whatever the circumstance may be. But, dear brother, you have given me much food for thought as you spoke on our fears. For whatever reason, at times some of us have been exposed to aspects in life which we thought to be good for us (and in a way they were for that time since these aspects brought many to the Feet of True Divinity) but the scars from those experiences linger and we are not sure how to, but deep down we are willing and really want to. The divisions in the world has created many "cultures" and ways of dealing with life and it is difficult to adjust in a day or two.

Beloved Shree Maa and Swamiji are the best thing that has happened in my life. They have shown me the meaning of unconditional love and truth. I know at times i am unsure how to approach them, and today, with all of my heart i pray that if self deprecation is keeping me away then May Kali's sword cut this from all the ten directions in my world so that this child can truly experience that love and guidance so selflessly offered.

Vishweshwar, thank you. Blessed day to you.
