Question from Devi/Nanda:What is a mool mantra and how does it differ from a bija mantra? Thank you

Swamiji's response:The mool mantra is the specific mantra of a deity that you are using in worship. It will be used for all offerings pertaining to that deity.

A bija mantra is a seed mantra, which is the essential vibration of a quality or characteristic of a deity.

For example: aim is a bija; hrim is a bija; klim is a bija.

The mool mantra of Chandi is om aim hrim klim chamundayai vicche.
