Guest guest
Dear All,If you visit the temple on a Sunday, then you will likely encounter a bunch of devotees cleaning the temple in the afternoon. If you would like to join in and help, (and we hope that you will), here are the pointers to keep in mind ..From the book "Inside Sutras". Acknowledgement and thanks to Swamiji/Rami/Srini."Remove all cobwebs before cleaning the floor.Sweep around the homa area as soon as we finish chanting by the fire. The swept up rice in disposed in the bucket just outside the temple side door. (Note from Nanda -- The rice that did not fall into the havan kund should not be put into the havan kund after sweeping up. Instead it is considered food for the insects and ants and offered to the them outside the temple.)When cleaning the floor, first vacuum the entire floor, and then wet mop with a sufficiently large mop to complete the cleaning quickly and efficiently.Clean the screens in the cupola every two weeks. When the screen in the cupola are cleaned, move Shree Maa's and Swamiji's Asans, and ensure that this area is cleaned with special care after screen cleaning has taken place.Carpets are to be lifted and all masala underneath them should be removed.Dust the musical instrumentsWipe the blades of the fans and maintain other mechanical or electrical devices appropriately. When cleaning around the murtis, begin at the top with the window sills, then clean the murtis, and then the altars. First , apply cleaning agents onto a paper towel while cleaning the window sills.Do not let cleaning agents drip on the walls or leave a mark or stain.Gently wipe the face and body of each murti with a wet paper towel. This should take about 5 to 7 minutes.Clean the altar area quickly and efficientlyWash windows atleast once per month inside and out."Jai MAANanda
