Dear All,Namaste. Continuing on ...From the book "Inside Sutras". Acknowledgement and thanks to Swamiji/Rami/Srini.""Sadhus use their time efficiently. Their over-riding desire is to spend more time in prayer, worship, and meditation. To do so, they need to minimize the time spent on procuring and maintaining their resources. Conservative resource consumption and careful attention to safety rules helps them achieve this goal.Consider the example of electricity consumption. We need diesel to run our generator, which generates our electricity. If we are careless about our electricity consumption, we would need to buy more diesel. More diesel means that we would need more money. Which means that we need to go out to work to make that extra money. Which means less time for sadhana. Thus, we end up spending more time on fund-raising and less time on fun-raising!Accidents are no fun. Sadhus avoid accidents to avoid pain and also the time lost in post-accident recovery or property restoration. The two main causes of accidents are fire and driving. As Sadhus, we must be extremely cautious when handling fire and meticulously follow all fire safety rules. Also, we drive safely and ensure that all guests are aware about the need to drive safely.Lastly, Sadhus and Mother Earth share a beautiful relationship filled with love and respect. If we protect Mother Earth, she will return our love by nourishing and protecting us. This means that we should be careful about the quantity and nature of waste that we put into Her. Because we are in a rural setting, the city does not manage our waste, we do. Therefore we have an added responsibility in this area.Overall, our goals are:Promote and adhere to a culture of conservative consumption of food, electricity, water, and all other resources.Meticulously follow safety rules related to fire and driving vehicles.Remember our obligation to Mother Earth and do not fill Her with waste that would harm Her."Jai MaaNanda
