Guest guest
Namaste: Upon reading a verse in the Advanced Shiva Puja text, I was reminded of the goal of all forms and techniques of worship. On Page 161 the verse reads: " He {Shiva}, takes away the difficulties of the ocean of the three worlds: for the purpose of liberation, do what is necessary to stop the changes and modifications of consciousness. " We are asking Him to remove the difficulties of the 3 worlds so that we can experience our True Self. Not to have an easier life or more money or perfect children. We worship He / She, to take away our mind, to stop all modifications of consciousness. We use the sacred mantras to take away our minds. That is the definition of the word mantra in Sanskrit: " that which takes away the mind. " My small ego has to surrender to the infinite unbounded eternal Self, my own pure and eternal nature. i become absorbed into " I " . Swami said in class recently that when diving into meditation, we will all come to a point where we have to decide to surrender and give up our mind, and thus dive into pure consciousness, the Oneness, or, decide not to surrender, and thus stay on a grosser level. So wonderful. We just have to remember the goal. Jai Maa Jai Swami vishweshwar
