Guest guest
Namaste Group: In the Kali Puja book I haven't been able to find the benefits of reciting this prayer. I am very much drawn to this prayer, and I find it very beautiful and soothing. Does anyone know the benefits of this prayer? Also I'm interested in the thousand names of Gayatri as well published by Devi Mandir. Are there certain times of the month to chant this as well? Shanti Om, Shankari Kali
Guest guest
Namaste, I agree that this worship is very very beautiful and soothing, this is itself to me a benefit. I am unsure if there are listed benefits for the Kalisahasranama Stotram but for me these 1000 names represent the 1000-petal lotus on the crown. To contemplate the Beloved Guru seated in the centre of the Lotus, in complete union with the Ishta Devi is to me a benefit beyond words. Just the grace of being able to recite this Scripture is a Benefit. Also, this Recitation follows the Kali Kavacam, after we have placed the Goddess in the different parts of the body we see names like Bhaktisukhini : She who gives the pleasure of devotion, or 844 to 904 She who is All and every aspect of the flower that is born by itself - The knowledge that this energy is flowing within me and just by thinking on this energy increases my devotion is a benefit. Maa recitation of this Stotram is simply awesome. Guest guest
Namaste Shankari Kali, Funny you should ask.... Thursday is the first day of the dark fortnight preceding Navaratri and Mahalaya (the Great Dissolution) and the perfect time to honor our ancestors. One way is to remember them in our sadhana and the Gayatri Sahasranama is a perfect way. As for Kali Sahasranama, Amavasya (new moon) is generally when we chant this scripture. On the other hand, when is there not a time when we would like the Mother to take away the darkness??? Interestingly, last night in class Swamiji told the story of Darkness complaining that the Sun was always chasing him. The message being that darkness cannot remain when the light comes. Also interesting that you picked the two: the Remover of Darkness and the Ultimate Light. I say, chant away sister! , " Shankari Kali " <shankari_kali wrote: > > Namaste Group: > In the Kali Puja book I haven't been able to find the benefits of > reciting this prayer. Guest guest
Namaste Gauri Ma,Thank you for your comments. I don't yet have the Gayatri Sahasranama, but I did get up at sunrise and recited the gayatri mantra 108 times. I'm glad that everyone in the group reminded me that it is time to honor our ancestors. It is funny that I am attracted to both Gayatri and Kali. Now that you mention it, it seems that they are both opposite and yet the same. ;)Peace,Shankari Kaligauri_108 <gauri_108 wrote: Namaste Shankari Kali, Funny you should ask....
