Guest guest
Namaste' I am planning on performing Pitri Paksha this year and have some questions. First and foremost is that most resources say that the rites should be performed by a male relative. Will it be okay for me to do it since there is no male relative to perform them? My second question (assuming the answer to the first is that I can do it) is there any particular way that Maa and Swamiji would recommend my going about it since I have never done this before? I have downloaded a list of mantras that should be chanted and offerings to make, but I just wanted to check in with them to note any particulars that I should be especially attentive to. I plan to fast, bath 3 times per day, set up an altar for all my ancestors (including my son) and perform the mantras and offerings, but I just want to make sure I'm not leaving anything out. I'm assuming that I do this everyday from 9/27-10/10. Is that correct? Thank you and my love to you all... OM Shanti Morningsong
Guest guest
Have a question to add to this. In regards to setting up an altar is it ok to set it up in our puja room? Or does it need to be elsewhere. And may there pictures remain in the room on the altar year round? Thank you for bringing this up Morningsong.
