Guest guest
Namaste: Swami often tells us that prior to birth, we choose the family we will be born into in order to maximize our growth towards our highest ideal of perfection. Our family has a profound effect on development. Swami and Maa teach that we should honor our ancestors and thank them for their help and sacrifice, for without their help we would not be in the good place we are today. Yesterday Maa and Swami and the Mandir family performed the annual ceremony to honor them, and performed puja to them as we would the Gods themselves. We asked them to accept our thanks and to continue sending us good energy to help us reach our goals. The other factor which effects our lives and our choices, are the actions we have performed in previous lives. Those impulses are carried forward and when we are born, those samskaras effect our development and the course of life we will follow. So, being with a Guru this life is a combination of our samskaras / tapyasya / devotion, and our ancestors help and sacrifice. And, most importantly, it is thru the Grace of the Guru Herself. She bestows that Grace when the time is perfect. Not too soon, or too late. For example, after I met Maa, and completely fell in love with Her, I asked Her why She had not come to me sooner. I was 43 years old and I felt sad that I had not met Her sooner. She replied that : " It was not time " . A simple direct answer, stated with complete assurance. From that statement, I knew that She knew my past, present, and future, and therefore knew when it was the " perfect time " to make Herself known to me. And, She keeps demonstrating, again and again, that She knows everything that is happing to me and She guides me, in subtle and direct ways, to keep " on the straight and narrow path " , even when I am overshadowed by maya and my ego. The Guru, Maa, is Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, and therefore, as God incarnate, She shapes every circumstance to help us grow and evolve to reach the state of union with Her. How blessed we are to know Her. I thank my ancestors, and Her daily, for the privilege of walking this Earth with Her. And, I pray that during this Navaratri, that She remove the darkness in us all and reveal Herself to us fully.
