Guest guest
Namaste: Based on my own preference, and my personality, I enjoy chanting mantras fast. I use pranayama and chant on the in breath, then hold it, repeat the mantra, then chant on the out breath. As I follow this method, the mantra automatically speeds up the longer I chant. That method works best for me. If I do the mantra slowly, my mind wanders more and I get bored. One can chant a mantra however one chooses. Chanting alone, one chooses the speed, and tempo, and begins, vs. chanting with a group, in which case one follows the leader's pace, When chanting alone, begin he mantra slowly and clearly, and if the mantra begins to speed up by itself, go with it. If it stays the same or slows down, go with it. There is no right or wrong method. You will feel the difference in your self. If you do not like going fast, don't. There is no pressure to go fast or slow. The mantra on the site is there so you can hear it. Pronounce it fast or slow, but pronounce it clearly. Then, take it as it comes. It is nice to view Swami at the fire in the Temple when He leads the devotees in a group chant. He chants mot mantra fast, and goes faster the longer He chants. Chant along with Him and the group, and you see how you feel. Most nights, at 6:30 PM Pacific time, some one will be chanting at the Temple at the Divine fire. Join us then and chant along with us. Hope this helps. If this is unclear, let me know. Try the mantra slow and fast and share how your feel.
