Guest guest
Dear Family, Vish; thank you for raising this question of communion with the Guru. Sri Ramakrishna said that: " Your Guru is He or She who knows your past and your future " . To me, that means the one who knows all about you, your spiritual potential, and innermost needs. Tanmaya has sometimes referred to an incident early on when a teacher was instructing him, and who suddenly broke off and said: " Your soul is asking me to tell you this.... " . I believe that ordinary Gurus teach us practical sadhanas which have worked in their lives, and which will work in our's as well if we practice them. But, I believe that the very greatest Gurus, like Shree Maa, can tell us what our own soul is trying to say but can't reach us because our attention is scattered and our minds are noisy. I believe that by means of selfless and one-pointed attention, either in the context of work or puja or meditation, we will be able to hear the voice of our own soul with more clarity and accuracy, and, finally, even the voice of God standing behind our soul. Sri Ramakrishna says that at the end of our sadhana, the Guru will appear before us, and slowly merge into the form of God, our Chosen Ideal. And, I believe that unconditional faith in the Guru as the very voice of God is the best way to make all this happen quickly.
