Guest guest
Hello Friends, peace to you all, I have a few questions about the discussion on love and fear that we had a few days back. I'm referring to the post, 'without fear, love cannot manifest' and the learnings which followed from there. Swami expanded our understanding by sharing that in pure absorption, we experience love purely (with no fear) and then once we are out of that state and back in duality, it's love/fear again. He also illuminated for us that it is possible to just LOVE with no object. But it isn't an either/or, is it? My question is, is it possible for US to just LOVE with no object in duality? As I go deeper into the love of Divine Mother...spend more time with Her, contemplate her teachings, surrender to Her abundant love, do I change that ratio? So that, before Her effects in my life, it's 50% love, 50% fear, but as I seek relationship with Her, it becomes more like 60% pure love, 40% fear, and keeps moving in that direction? Perhaps more accurately: is it possible to become saturated in LOVE with no object while still living in duality? The image for me is like a bird's nest (the 'I') placed in an ocean of perfectly still water (Divine Mother's Love). The weave of the nest relaxes, softens, expands outward and downward, is permeated by the water. The design of the nest stays the same, but opens into the water, so that what is known is more water than nest. No fear of losing anything, because it is all felt to be held in Her deep still waters. With gratitude, Jennifer
Guest guest
Dear Jennifer and All, Sri Ramakrishna said that " pure, or unconditional, love is possible only for Ishwarkotis (avataras) and those like them " . I understand this to mean that ordinary jivas, because of being caught in Maya and subject to fear, ego, and worldly desires are incapable of unconditional, love. But, what an ordinary person can do is to surrender to the Avatara or to God, and let the Divine take over and dissolve the fear, ego, worldly desire and other impurities. So, my best understanding is that the highest and best sadhana for an aspirant on the path of Bhakti yoga, the path of devotion, is unconditional surrender to unconditional Love.
