Guest guest
JAI MAA i have a query on chanting prayers/mantras . Many of the mantras and prayer are in their original form(sanskrit) . I know many sages and gurus reiterate that when we chant a sloka/mantra/stotra understanding the essenece and meaning of it, the benefits ane multifold. In that context, is is okay to read chandi or any scripture (english meaning after sanskrit verse) in english than sanskit. Is it okay to chant a mantra in " english meaning " form than transliteration or original sanskrit form? will the benefits be same ? Kindly advise. Guest guest
Dear Amrish, Namaste! Swamiji's responses to related questions are available at: http://www.shreemaa.org/drupal/chanting_1 I hope they help. Recently, I was driving from the Mandir to the dentist. I kept repeating " God has given me more than what I need " in English for two hours (even when the Dentist was drilling my teeth ). I felt very peaceful as I keep repeating it. More recently, my mind was whirring like crazy and I sat down to chant Chandi Path in Sanskrit. Within 5 minutes, I became more restful. Knowing the meaning of the mantra and chanting in Sanskrit is probably the best way to go inside, quickly, I think. Just my two cents.
