Guest guest
I have a question on the argala stotram. verse 24 on p78 says: " patnim manoramam dehi...................... " . The transliteration says " give me a wife ......... " who follows changes of mind " ................ " what does " follow changes of mind " mean here?. Does it imply change from materialistic to spiritual state? i am little confused and would appreciate fellow sadhaks to clear the conufusion. WOnder what swamiji would say for this. Guest guest
Dear Amrish, Thanks for your question - and helping all of us to think more deeply about the Aragala stotram! Verse 24 says, " Give me a wife in harmony with my mind, who follows the changes of mind, and who can lead a family of noble birth across the difficulties of the ocean of objects and their relationships. " At a gross level - this verse seems to be talking about a spouse. A spouse who will walk with us to cross this samsara saagar (ocean of objects and relationships). i heard Shree Maa say that we have to think more deeply about this particular verse -- She said we can think of this verse as the relation between consciousness (Purusha) and nature (Prakriti). The relation between our " soul " and our " mind " - The wife,at a subtle level is our mind. We are praying for a mind that will be in harmony with the soul. If our mind is in harmony with our soul we will be able to cross this ocean and be in perfect unity! Isn't this beautiful? Thank you very much Amrish! May Mother help us all to learn and understand and feel Her Presence more deeply and completely! Guest guest
Jai Love, The wife as the mind...thanks for posting this! Could this mean that we are praying for a mind/wife that is in harmony with our pure Soul...a mind that surrenders and allows us to continue chanting, mantras, and worshipping with devotion? It can be so easy to say, 'hey, i am too tired tonight to do mantras.' However, if the wife is saying, 'oh, honey, stay on path, do your worship...Love God...Be Love. " Ramya - thanks for your post. love from janitri , " n_ramya108 " <n_ramya108 wrote: > > Dear Amrish, > > Thanks for your question - and helping all of us to think more deeply > about the Aragala stotram! > > Verse 24 says, > > " Give me a wife in harmony with my mind, who follows the changes of > mind, and who can lead a family of noble birth across the difficulties > of the ocean of objects and their relationships. Guest guest
Namaste vishweshwar,Ramya,Janitri and all for your responses to my question and also for getting swami's response. This verse is very powerful and is given as a sadhana to single people who want to get married and enter " grihastha " life.Even i was suggested to do 1 mala of this verse for getting good life partner. Initially i was of the view that it applies to men to supplicate the mother to give a suitable wife but was suggested females can use it also to pray for good husband. Especially when we have entered this kali age and doing sadhana, people like me ideally need a partner who has same frequency as opposed to someone who is flamboyant/stlish and more materialistic.
