Namaste!

I am new to the group and feel a little shy about asking my questions, but here goes nothing!

On the Devi Mandir website I was reading through the FAQ's and came across this question and answer:

Short Puja to DeityCan you recommend a short Kali Puja when we can't do the whole Kali Puja book? You can easily adapt the Beginner's Durga Puja to Kali by substituting Kali's Mantra for Durga's, and changing the Dhyanams. Each deity has five personal ingredients that are their own:o A Gayatri mantra o A Dhyanam o A Bija mantra o A Stotram and o A Pranam If you know these five, you can make any puja

With this in mind, can anyone tell me the five personal ingredients for Tara Ma?

I would like to tailor the beginners Durga Puja to Tara Devi the way this question talked about tailoring the puja to Kali.

Here are the things I know for Tara at this point:

Dhyanam mantra: Om Tare Tuttare Ture Soha

Bija mantra: Treem

The things that I don't know:

Gayatri mantra: When I look this up on the internet I find information that says this is one mantra in particular so I'm confused about how there can be a personal Gayatri mantra for each deity?

Stotram: From my research I think this refers to praises/hymns or prayers. Try as I might I can't quite find this relating to Tara. I know of the 21 Praises of Tara from Tibetan Buddhism. I also keep coming across references to the Nile Tantra, the Devi-Stotra and even found a Tara Sara Upanishad, but don't know if these are what would be the personal stotram for Tara.

Pranam: I keep finding this word associated with Namaste. This makes me think that perhaps Pranam is some form of gesture of respect? I am then unsure of what the specific pranam would be for Tara.

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Also am curious if there is a puja for the Ten Mahavidyas as a whole?

Thanks again for any help!

Blessings,

Terra

Hi Terra, how are you?

I am reading your post a couple days after you posted and I see no one

has gotten back yet. Don't fret, someone will. I wish I could help,

but I don't really know enough to advise. If you haven't yet, you

should really check out the live streamed satsangas Swamiji does on

various scriptures in this path (currently the Chandi Path - but you

probably already know...).

Jai Maa!

Thanks for the reassurance Chris!

It helps. All things in good time right?!

I'm not in a real rush about my post anyway as I am still waiting for the Durga Puja and Chandi Path books I ordered to arrive.

I would really love to check out the live streams and videos from shreemaa.org, but unfortunately where I live my internet connection isn't fast enough to support it.

Thanks for saying hi!

Jai Maa!

Hello and Namaste Terra!

I just wanted to tell you that you have my complete sympathy! ( " I

would really love to check out the live streams and videos from

> shreemaa.org, but unfortunately where I live my internet connection

> isn't fast enough to support it. " ) I, too am in the same position,

plus all I have is an old computer bought at a yard sale with windows

98! Nevertheless, I have found that I can listen to the Chandi

classes and chanting on the webcams very well if I cut off the video

streams. I also just go ahead and download audios and walk away and

make lunch or read for a while and come back in an hour to listen! :-)

If anyone else out there has tips for us folks with slow

connections...

Love,

Leela
