Namaste Friends,

In continuation of our Chandi Sadhana and Discussion, this week we

will study and chant the Rgvedoktam Devi Suktam (pages 317-319).

Please share your thought and questions as you chant and reflect on

the meanings of this.

I found the following interesting quote on the web:

This Suktam has been written by a woman sage by name Vaak, who is the

daughter of Sage Ambrunar. The Woman Sage had reached the stage of

identifying herself with Devi through her Saadhana - she sings this

Suktam in such exalted state

Namaste Srini,

I came across an interpretation of the ratri suktam where the

commentator says: " Darkness is to be looked upon as a mother – a

mother in whose womb light exists. "

One interpretation would be that the dark night of the soul refers to

the turmoil that ignorance and duality create within us. Without this

pralaya most of us do not wake up to her divinity, to the light.

The second interpretation would be that - total darkness, when we can

see nothing, do nothing, forces us to go within us, inwards into

introspection and finally to illumination – the rise of Usha.

Namaste

I have the 1997 edition of Chandi Path, I have opened to pg 317 and cannot find anything to do with Rgvedoktam Devi Suktam? Am I missing something or are you using a different book? I hope you can help.

Thankyou

Brindavanshakti

Hi Brindavanshakti, did you get your question answered? Try page 345.

I have the same edition as yours. It's the same - just different

pagination.

Jai Maa!
