Guest guest
Namaste Srini and all: I perform japa using a mala because it helps me to keep focused on the mantra. When counting with fingers, I become lost, drift off the mantra, and cannot keep an accurate count. I do many malas daily and love the feeling of the beads running through my fingers. I count with fingers only when the mala is unavailable. I keep track of the number of malas with the fingers of my other hand. I do not typically use pranayama with the japa.
