Guest guest
Namaste Friends, Hope you are doing well. I look forward to your thoughts on the first episode, Chapter 1. In the Kali Dhyanam, She is described as bearing ten weapons in her ten hands: The sword of worship The discus of revolving time The club of articulation The bow of determination The iron bar of restraint The pike of attention The sling The head of egotism The conch of vibrations The arrow. I recently read an article which says forget all the books and teachings and look in your heart and ask yourself what you desire. Make that the goal of your life. Which of these qualities/weapons resonate with the single most important thing in your lives? Which of these are most potent in your spiritual progress? Thank you for sharing!! Guest guest
These are my notes: Hope someone can add to them to shed more light on subject. THANKS!Sword - of worship = Worship is our weapon of choice to fight the egoDiscus - of revolving time = everything takes time, revolving time as in life after life, experiencing things over and over until we get the messageClub - or articulation = learning to say what we mean and mean what we say, to speak truth, when to speak and when not too, what to say and how to say it, Bow - or determination = very important because without it the arrow will not ever be fired, nothing will be done, once you have a goal you must shoot in it's direction and hopefully not shoot arrows in a directions you don't want to go and be and become distracted.Iron bar - of restraint = Interesting that is is heavy iron so as to be difficult to lift. To restrain us from leaving our path, getting up from puja & to help us complete sadhana.Pike - of attention = To help us obtain one pointed attention on our task.Sling - Nothing written here so will make a guess = Support?Head - of egotism = egotism severed each time it raises it's head.Conch - of vibrations = the energy that is created by our actions, pujas, sadhanas, attitudes, beliefs ..... neg. or pos.Arrow - Srini mentions which did not see listed = understood that they are fired with everything we do, think & don't do....(by our chooses)Assume the ornaments on her arms represent attainments.Shines like a blue gem = can anyone shed some light one this one?Ten faces = assume they face the 10 directions to represent that she is present everywhere in everything. (had a wonderful experience in this lesson over the weekend)Lotus born creative capacity brings up a couple of thoughts: 1. Lotus born means = born from sitting in lotus position doing sadhana, meditation and the like 2. Creative capacity = That from these things listed above (sadhana, med, etc...) caused the Creative capacity to exist with in us. 3. and this Creative Capacity praises the Remover of Darkness(Kali) in order to slay To Much and Too Little (our own thoughts) Creative Capacity is? 4. when the Supreme Consciousness was in sleep = Not paying attention, Supreme Consciousness is? when we were actually asleep? Think when we were in that dream state of walking in mayaWhen I write it out like this it is easier for me to understand.Sort of like dissection.Look forward to hearing from anyone that is interested in adding their opinion.Thank you Srini for a wonderful study. So much to learn here.Devi srini_sadhu <srini_sadhu wrote: Namaste Friends, Hope you are doing well. Guest guest
Namaste Srini... In answer to your question the goal I would make for my life is the desire to leave the world a better place. Two of Kali Maa's weapon's are helpful for me. The bow of determination keeps me focused and steadfast on my path, and the surrender of my ego allows me to remember that I'm not doing anything and that it isn't about me at all. The sword of worship is what is most potent in my spiritual progress. The more sadhana I commit myself to the more focused and determined I become. The more I fall in love with Maa, the more in love I am with all of life. JAI MAA OM Shanti Morningsong , " srini_sadhu " <srini_sadhu wrote: > > Namaste Friends, > > Hope you are doing well. Guest guest
Namaste Srini and all family: My life goal is to be a perfect servant to Maa and Swami, and to merge my individuality into them. Then to work in the world as their instrument. All of Kali's weapons or tools, help me accomplish my goal. I need a clear plan, then determination, then concentration, then restraint and discrimination, as I proceed to manifest the action steps to reach my goal. Without Her help and Her shakti, nothing is possible. As the slokas state: a devotee should take refuge in Her. And, for those who perform good actions, She clears the path, and, for those who cause problems, She creates difficulties. The Verses of the Chandi represent our daily lives: the struggle to succeed; the problems we face; calling on God for help; prayers answered; and finally-success. Guest guest
Namaste DeviKoola, My goal is to realise the true nature of Maa in all her varied forms, the Sarva Vidya of Sri, and to be wielded in which ever way She pleases. All her implements serve the purpose. The Sword of Worship slices through superfluous attachments and is the one-pointed laser Shri Aumn Yantra Skambh pinnacle of devotion that pines the heart on Sri. The conch of vibrations reaches the resonant frequency of asuric thoughts, enfolding them back to the bindu of the tip of the sword of worship from N to A. The head of egotism with all it's haughty self-glorifying arrogance and pride, serves as a decoration for Maa's beautiful form, bloody rivers of endless desires consumated in Her compassionate blissful exaltations. The severed head symbolizes the transience of the ego and reveals it a party mask covering the divine effulgence. The pike attention, bow of determination and the iron bar of restraint keep the spine straight and allow for arrows of mantra to be shot at any bothersome sinful eyes buzzing around the subconscious. In addition the sling, and club of articulation are most helpful for this purpose. The discuss simultaneously reminds one of the limits of mortality and the expanse of eternity, and the cycling of days, nights, weeks, months and years and to spend time in full awareness fixing and complete the eternal sankalpa, rather than mindlessly wasting opportunities, and it slices up the thoughts that foster the latter activities. Jai Maa ki jaya! Jai Swami ki jaya! Jai Devi Kula Ki Jaya! Love Eric ______________________________\ ____ Never miss a thing. Guest guest
Namaste All, I began study of chapter one by listening to Swamiji’s talk on the CD. (I’ve listened to it four times now and hear something new each time.) Early in his commentary he states that the central issue of Chandi is how to make the mind be still. I immediately thought of the second sutra of Patanjali ~ Yogas citta vrtti nirodhah and was extremely excited since I have been weaving in and out of the sutras for many years. Near the end of his commentary he quotes this sutra and says that Chandi is Astanga Yoga. It seems I have made a grand circle and beginning another. This is a most auspicious sign! It occurred to me to start a Chandi Journal and weave in the sutras through the study, and to begin by considering Durga’s weapons in light of my own circumstance. How to use the weapons to slay Too Much and Too Little … (I have both fully operative) …first this will require the Bow of Determination to slay my thoughts of ‘too little’ time and ‘too much’ to do! So, the goal is to embody Durga’s attributes? Durga Puja and Chandi as sadhana? I am not clear on what constitutes sadhana. What should constitute my sadhana? In regards to ‘She becomes manifest’: verse 68 - pg. 135 Does this mean that Maa became manifest from sadhana of those before us, and, in addition, we have made Her manifest in our lives by our discovery of Her or being led/called to Her? (Don’t know if this makes sense or not … can’t seem to word it the way it is in my heart.) For anyone who does not have the CD that goes along with the Chandi book I would highly recommend it. It has Swamiji’s English commentary as well as the entire book recited in Sanskrit by either Shree Maa or Swamiji. Jai Maa ~ Jai Swamiji Marsha

Guest guest
For me, it the deep, unquenchable Bhakti which resides in the instrument called The Heart, which has driven me to use all the other instruments listed below. This Bhakti has been the driving force in my life and in my sadhana. I want only to Love Her more and more, and by doing so, love all of creation as Her. When I fall, it is this Bhakti which calls to me and pulls me up out of the heavy fog of maya and gives me the strength and inspiration to continue on, and to utilize the other weapons. Love is the greatest weapon of all. Bhakti is Her Grace. Jai Maa!! In Her Love, Sanatani , Nirmalananda Saraswati <nirmalananda1008 wrote: > > The bow of determination...
