Guest guest
Dear Friends, Verse 6 of Chapter 1, I find significant. Good Thoughts (Suratha) moved against the Destroyers of Worship to engage in battle, and even though they were fewer in numbers, nevertheless Good thoughts was defeated. Swamiji says, " that there were many good thoughts, while the kings who were his enemies were only six. Nevertheless they defeated Good thoughts. Who are the six? Kama: desire, krodha: anger; lobha: greed; mogha: ignorance born of attachment; modha: foolishness; matsarya: envy or jealousy. We have good intentions, good thoughts, good goals. But good thoughts do not manifest as good actions. Why? Because we more more powerful bad thoughts that distract us. It seems the only way is to keep reducing our desires and simplify our lives so that the good thoughts can manifest. What do you all think? Guest guest
Namaste Srini and all: I agree that we should do our best to reduce our desires and simplify our lives. However, in the meantime, while my life is still complicated and my mind is un-disciplined, the winds of change blow we around. I lose my focus, become inefficient, and make mistakes. What to do then? I remember Lord Krishna's advice to Arjuna when he was faced with the horror of going to war against his relatives. Lord Krishna expounded a simple and profound teaching: " .... be established in Being, then perform action.... " Sadhana is our route to Being. Perform sadhana, bring our life into harmony with the Divine, and go back into action.
