Namaste

Here are the verses that seemed to fit the evening:

Maatulingam gadaam Khetam paana paatram ca bibhratee

naagam lingam ca yonim ca bibhratee nrpa muurddhani

Oh King, She holds in Her hands a pomegranate

(symbolizing unity of creation), the club, the shield

and drinking vessel, and on Her uppermost part, She

bears the snake which unites the male principle

(Consciousness) with teh female principle (energy).

p.360

citaabhasmaalep garalamasanam dikpatadharo

jaaadhari kanthe bhujagapatiharee pasupatih

kapaalee bhuteso bhajati jadadeesaikapadaveem

bhavaani tvat paani grahana paripaati phalamidam

He who besmears his body with ashes from the funeral

pyre,

who consumes the poison, who remains naked, who has

long matted locks of hair, and wears the king of

snakes

around his neck as a garland; who has in his hands a

cup

made of bone, that Lord of Spirits, Lord of Animals,

who is

known as the Lord of the Universe, how did acquire His

Greatness?

He simply accepted your hand in marriage, Oh Empress

of Being,

that is the method of His attainment.

The evenings proceedings were really awesome. I felt such joy for that devotee who took on that honoured role. At first, he was just a devotee standing in front of the altar in shirt and trousers. But in changing his dress, Maa completely transformed him and he really looked like Lord Shiva with the snake coiled afroung his neck and head. When Swamiji was performing the Brahman puja at one time when the devotee turned his face he even had the resemblance of Sankaracharya. This was truly Creation : Maa's insight – she said "He needs dress" . Transformation : Maa transformed his dress into the likeness of Lord Shiva dress. Preservation : This image of Divine Lord Shiva will be preserved in our minds for years and years to come.

At the end Swamiji showed us true humility.

Thank you Maa, thank you Swamiji.
