Namaste Shabd and all:

The Navarana mantra, is the bija, or seed, mantra of the entire Chandi

Path. It is: Om aim hrim klim camundyai vicce. For maximum effect,

it should be chanted this way, not altered. It represents the 3

aspects of Mother energy, and is translated on page 372 of the newer

Chandi Path:

OM: the infinite beyond conception

AIM: creation, rajo guna, energy of desire, Mahasarasvati

HRIM: preservation, sattva guna, energy of action, Mahalaksmi

KLIM: destruction, tamo guna, energy of wisdom, Mahakali

CAMUNDA: the slayer of passion and anger, moves in the head

YAI: the grantor of boons

VIC: in the body of knowledge ; in the perception

CE: of consciousness

If you want to invoke Shiva, The Consciousness of Infinite Goodness,

then chant: Om Namah Shivya.

Each mantra should be used the way it has been chanted for thousands

of years because each mantra carries with it the form of the God or

Goddess it represents, and it carries the energy of all those who have

chanted it over time.

I hope you are able to tune into Swami's evening live Chandi class

every Monday-Friday, 6:3- PM Pacific time, for 1 hour. If you cannot

make the classes, they are all archived at www.shreemaa.org and you

can watch them anytime. Other classes teaching and commenting on other

scriptures and techniques are archived there too.

Thank you for your reply. Please read my previous post in its entirety... I feel

I need to

clarify myself. I actually was not altering the navarna mantra. On page 57 of

the Chandi

path book written by Swamiji, there is a portion of the writing in sanskrit that

says " Om

Aim Hrim Klim Namah Shivayai... " If you look on that page you will see it....

I do know that in the Shiva Purana, Lord Shiva says the panchakshara mantra (Om

Namah

Shivaya) is also the Beej mantra for Shakti and can be chanted " Om Namah

Shivayai " to

invoke shakti. There are other versions of the Panchakshara mantra such as " Om

shrim

Klim Namah Shivaya " " Om Haum Namah Shivaya " etc... I was wondering if the phrase

" Om

Aim Hrim Klim Namah Shivayai " (Page 57 Chandi Path) was also a version of that

shakti

invoking Panchakshara mantra.

I wasn't trying to replace the navarna mantra.

I hope that clarifies my question.

Thanks,

Shabd
