Guest guest
Namaste Alan and all: Swami's response, and Alan's question are posted below. First, Swami's response: SWAMI'S RESPONSE: This interpretation is very good and inspiring. Let me make another suggestion: The Great Ego or Great Ruler of Duality are one and the same being. We worship him saying, " Here is our respect, our oblations. Please don't bother us any more. Go to heaven as fast as you can and remain there as long as you can. " We are going to have another verse like that in Chapter 4, which we will study tonight. ALAN'S QUESTION: > Chapter 2 is a graphic description of the fierce battle in which Devi > vanquishes Mahishasura, the Great Ego. Mahishasura is clearly the bad > guy and enemy of the Gods in this episode. > > It is therefore startling to find a Mahishasura puja as part of the > Cosmic Puja (p. 332 in the Second Edition of the Cosmic Puja book). > Why is there a puja to the bad guy and enemy of the Gods? > > Here are my thoughts, but I'd appreciate others' insights. > > Perhaps a clue is that the Cosmic Puja gives Mahishasura another name, > the " Great Ruler of Duality, " as an alternative to the name the " Great > Ego.
