Ramakrishna said that it is very difficult to do our work in the world of objects and relationships without attachment. A disciple asked if it were possible to attain freedom from attachment. Ramakrishna replied that there is a way. He said: " As often as possible retreat to a quiet place for as little as 1 day or as long as possible, up to a year. At that time do not think about your brothers or sisters, not even your mother or father. Do not think of any of your relations. Forget them all. You should feel that you have nothing but God, God alone. Cry for God. Pray for wisdom and devotion. " " Once you have both wisdom and devotion, you will have little fear of working in the world.
