Beloved Mother,

In reply to your second question, I would think it depends on the

degree of a person's faith. If a person believes that God is far away

in space--or in time--then pathways and methods are necessary.

And, in that case, it is far easier and quicker to travel in a

comfortable vehicle on a six-lane highway than to cut a new path

through the jungle with a machete.

On the other hand, if a person has burning faith that God is the

Nearest of the near and Ever-present in one's own Heart, then methods

and vehicles may be less necessary. Does a wife need rituals and

ceremonials to speak intimately with her husband?

It is my belief that with sincerity and a little experimenting each

person will find her or his own level: if one can sit quietly for

hours, feeling the Presence of God without distraction, then outer

aids would become less necessary.

As Sri Ramakrishna said, " When the sandhya merges into the Gayatri and

the Gayatri merges into Om, rituals will fall away by themselves " .

However, in either case, with external methods or not, I believe that

a Guru is always necessary.

With loving pranams,

Kumari
