It can be, but also it refers to anything we are afraid of.

We call the great death the death of our spiritual being, when we

neglect our soul or our relationship with God.

Pranams and Dhanyavad Swamiji.

 

I am still not able to comprehend the religious and philosophical

significance of the Vedic term Mahamritu. It has raised more questions

in my mind. But your answer has shown where to seek for the knowledge.
