I hope you, nor any other, will not take any offense from what I will write. This is a wonderful quote, and it did give me a smile. Yesterday, my therapist, who is a very spiritual person, talked about the healing power of humor. I know from seeing Ammachi, Karunamayi, and Swamiji and Maa, that these avatars frequently use humor to teach. I can "see" Swamiji right now (in my mind's eyes), leaning back and laughing, or telling a story and/or anecdote and then using humor to illustrate. I have to say, I am so very glad that so far, my hair has not stood on end when I have repeated God's name or prayed/did puja, etc. For this I am very grateful because these devotional practices help keep my hair from standing on end or catching fire, as it often feels when I have a reaction. I love Swami and Maa for all the tools they use, including humor and laughter, to teach us and help move us along our paths. Jai Maa !!! Jai Swami !!! LindaPsssst...Have you heard the news? Guest guest
When I first heard the term " hair (of the body) standing on end " I was not sure what it meant. I realized later that is analogous to having goose pimples. In other words ir is a symptom of awe in the face of the majesty and grandeur of Brahman in the form of the Ishta Devata. What an apt description. Once You have had awe in the presence of and cried tears for Ma you are Hers and She is yours. Whatever happens after that, She remains in your life for good.
