Dearest Surya,

Funny you should ask.....as i was chanting the Devi Atharvashirsham

this evening, i was reading Swamiji's translation/explanation and i

came across verse 14. This is the one where Swamiji shows how the

Lalita Trishati mantra --

ka e i la hrim

ha sa ka ha la hrim

sa ka la hrim

is embedded in the verse and the translation ends with " This is the

root of the knowledge of the Divine Mother " .

Sri Vidya is the ultimate knowledge of Divine Mother, the 3 ways of

seeing Maya :

* Maya as illusion

* Maya as the universal body of Nature

* Maya as One Consciousness in harmony with Her Self

or 3 ways of seeing God:

* how God sees Himself

* how God sees the world and the world sees God

* how the world sees the world

As for the Sri Chakra Yantra, the Sotram enumerates all the Siva

triangles and the Shakti triangles and the bindu in the middle and how

they " stack up " . When you look at a Sri Chakra is is possible to see

this...the bindu is on the top of the pyramid.

So in reciting this stotram, the mantra, the embedded mantra in the

Atharvashirsham and smeditating on the meanings, i feel we are really

putting some concentrated effort in calling Her.

does this help?

Aum Namah Shivaya Gauri Ji,

Thanks for the answer and for directing me to read Swamiji's wonderful passage

in Verse 14 of Sri Devyatharvashisam.

My question is specifically directed at how exactly the Sri Lalitha Trishati

Stotram describes the Sri Yantra and its form of worship. I just don't get that

except for the obvious fact of it spelling out the Panchadashakshari Mantra in

code, which is one of the main mantras used in worship of the Sri Yantra being

part of the larger Sri Vidya. Although some traditions of Sri Vidya may have

the opinion that the 15 syllable is the same or equal to the 16 syllable

Shodashakshari/Shodasi Mantra, most would acknowledge (including Swamiji if I

recall) that the 16 takes you a step further. In some traditions it goes even

beyond that. In some you actually are required to worship Sri Bala

Tripurasundari first with HER Mantra spelled out in either its 6 or 9 syllable

form. I don't think at that point the Sri Vidya Upasaka in those traditions is

worshipping the Sri Yantra, but I don't know. I believe, if I remember

correctly that Bala Tripurasundari has Her own unique Yantra.

But getting back to the initial question, I chant all these regularly and don't

see exactly yet how specifically the Sri Lalitha Trishati Stotram describes the

Sri Chakra/Yantra and its lay out of intersecting triangles at all. Its also

not the feeling or visualization I get when I chant the LTS.

I am familiar with how the Sri Khadgamala Stotram/Namavali worships each of the

deities in each part of the Sri Chakra, but I don't yet see how the LTS does. I

do see how it praises much more subtle/ethereal qualities of the Goddess as

opposed the more head to toe concretely physical way SHE is described in the Sri

Lalitha Sahasranam Stotram (to oversimplify things a bit). I also don't yet

have the specific understanding of how the names in the LTS, or the specific

rendition/translation of the surrounding part of Sri Lalitopakhyana that

Swamiji/Shree Maa teach, describe how:

how Goddess sees HERSELF

how Goddess sees the world and the world sees Goddess

how the world sees the world

I might just need to study it more and I am sure there are many meanings for

each of the names in the LTS, just as Bhaskararaya describes them for the LS.

It seems in most more " advanced " or " complete " Sri Chakra/Yantra Pujas I have

seen, which are usually referred to as Navavarana Puja--worship of the 9 levels

of the Sri Chakra (which are much easier to see when it is in one of its 3

dimensional " Meru " forms), worship the parts through the Sri Khadgamala Namavali

and later towards the end of the puja have a place where either Lalitha's 1000,

300 or 108 are chanted as per the time/desire of the pujari.

So, can you or any other knowledgeable member elaborate for me further so I can

obtain a deeper understanding of these things?

Sorry for the long exposition, but I just wanted to be clear and specific.

JAI MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

How do the 3 ways of knowing and 3 ways God sees relate to the Shree Chakra? They would appear to represent 6 of 9 triangles, unless the Shree Yantra can be constructed from only 6 triangles? Is that the case? Or if not, what are the 3 other attributes? What does it mean to embody the Sri Chakra, how does the Aum vag, 3 syllables + the visarga, generate 9 isoceles triangles?Jai Maa!--- On Tue, 9/16/08, devi <student61754 wrote:devi <student61754Re: [www.ShreeMaa.org] To Karen Re: Sri Vidya Date: Tuesday, September 16, 2008, 2:30 PM
