Namaste!

In verse 16, Mother is the one by whose grace we do our sadhana. In

verse 17-19 describes Her compassionate to the poor and suffering and

even the wicked. Reminds me of a verse from Sri Adi Shankara's poem:

Oh Mother, Durga, Ocean of Mercy, I am remembering you today, having

fallen into difficulties, I request yo to disregard my wickedness. We

call you as children perplexed by hunger and thirst would remember

their mother, being away from her breast.

In verse 21, meditation on Her form is praised. Swamiji recommends

the practice of tratak on her form as very helpful. Maa and Swamiji

also suggest that we surround ourselves with as many reminders of

Divinity as possible.

In the Homa, we have several things to focus on: the text, the form of

the deity if we can see the form, the fire, the sounds of the mantras,

the meaning of the mantras, the offerings. In this way, the sages have

provided a system of worship which reduces our worldly thoughts.
