Guest guest
Dear Karen ~ I have always been struck by this compassionate act of the Goddess ... that the thought eventually go to heaven. But I never thought about what it actually meant to me ... dispelling fear of thoughts. Wow. Thank you ~ Linda Karen wrote: 3. Guest guest
Dear Devis, " Killing our thoughts " Pretty bloody approach, not much sweetness and light there! If we start by killing our thoughts, what will we decide that it is virtuous to-or our duty to-kill next? " " The Goddess is compassionate to thoughts, and sends them to heaven " . How can thoughts go to heaven unless they belong there? Otherwise it would be hell for them. Thoughts must therefore themselves be intrinsically divine. " Fear of thoughts " . We are fearful of what we don't know-of the unknown. Have we ever looked closely at a thought and asked ourselves what it IS? What IS this thing called a thought? In truth, thoughts are the wierdest things going, the wierdest things in our experience. Just try to determine what a thought IS; what is it MADE of? When Swami Vivekananda was a young, wandering sannyasin, he once found himself confronted by a troop of large and very fierce monkeys. He backed away from them and they followed, gathering in numbers. Soon he was running top speed down a jungle pathway with the whole troop close behind. As he raced by an old sannysin, the monk called out to him, " Always face the brute! " The Swami at once stopped running and turned to face the monkeys. And they also stopped chasing him and quickly dispersed into the jungle. Ever afterward the Swami remembered that lesson. Thinking thus, Oh Goddess, certainly you destroy all anmity. Guest guest
Thank you Karen. I know. (By the way, enemy and enmity are two different words--what's with that?)
