Guest guest
Namaste all: Mother uses whatever it takes to free us from the clutches of our ego. Our senses, our mind, our intellect, are all trained from a young age to seek enjoyment and fleeting fulfillment in the ever-changing outside world. How will She defeat the army of the ego, when our entire life is arranged to comfort and feed his insatiable demands? So, She has to be tricky, powerful, ruthless, and cunning, if She wants to win the battle. This Navaratri, I was determined to provide Her with every chance to enter into serious battle with my ego. So it was with some trepitation that I arrived at the Temple DAY #1 at 4:30 AM with only 3 hours sleep, to join the other devotees in Her worship. Let the battle begin, I thought. I prayed to Maa that She would win, and I did everything I could to help Her. It was 3-4 days into Navaratri before I began to loose interest in the world and enjoy the Temple and its incredible peace and shakti. The first several days there was a fierce battle for my ego: everywhere I turned, I was confronted with an unbalanced, unhappy, and grouchy " i " . Nothing satisfied " me " , and everything annoyed me. " i " was miserable. Fortunately, She had instructed me in the use of Her weapons of virtue: avoid all outside related pursuits: TV, books, Web surfing, secular music, etc., and perform many extra mantras, chanting, japa, 4:30 am aarti and singing both in my home Temple and the Mandir, etc., in order to break free of anger, passion, and the other generals in the Ego's army. She worked tirelessly and fearlessly, countering my howls and cries of pain and anger, and cut and hacked with Her sword of truth and wisdom and compassion, until, finally, he was defeated. With a final great scream of surrender, he fell to the floor, exhausted. She gathered me up in Her arms, and put me into Her lap, and now, I do not want to climb out. Our lives are a series of habits and routines, organized to dull and blind us to the ultimate reality. Serious measures are needed to obtain serious results. And She is up to the task. We only have to cry for help, and She comes running, leaping out of our heart chakra, manifesting from the best of our own intrinsic nature, Our Own Divine Mother, She fights to save us from ourself, and She Will Win. Thanks Ma and Swami, for a wonderful Navaratri. Thanks to you, loving family, for all of our combined efforts, because, as One Soul, our unified efforts, made Her ever more powerful.
