Guest guest
Namaste Ambi and all: All you need is love. There is a teaching story I heard years ago, which has stayed in my mind, nourishing me whenever I get frustrated that the Chandi is too hard, or I can't memorize a mantra, or can't sit still to meditate or chant, etc. It goes like this: 3 monks lived on a island. They were very simple and did their daily prayers with great devotion. They did not perform the complex rituals of their faith because they were so busy caring for the Temple and performing their duties. They loved God, and offered all the fruits of their actions to Him, and only thought to praise Him with every breath. One day, their Master came in a boat to visit. They were so happy. They greeted him, and give him their best. After he departed, they discovered that he had forgotten his hat. Dismayed that their master would be cold, they immediately rushed out the Temple doors and ran down to the beach and across the water until they reached the master's boat. They bowed and offered him his hat. Astonished that they walked across the sea, the master realized that these simple monks has realized the Goal, while he was still bound, and he asked them to help him know God. For me, this story summarizes my goal: life a life of Pure Devotion. I pray that we be like those monks, simple, grateful, living a life of Pure Devotion, serving Maa and Swami with all our heart. Guest guest
Namaste Vish Yes, this is so true, and important to remember. Not as an excuse to not do our sitting, our disciplines, but as an enhancement. Our devotion can be expressed in many ways. And isn't part of the reason (all of the reason?) we practice our sadhana? We want to quiet the mind and live with that level of focus, sincerity, and devotion? As the Chandi Path teaches, we need only to remember to call Her name, with pure love and devotion, and She will appear. Thank you for sharing this story. It will stay with me as well. Jai Maa!
