Guest guest
Namaste, Another aspect of the discipline where I notice the positive transformation in my life is singing – singing Maas songs and following her chants. Have you ever listened to Maa chanting the 1000 names of Kali, the Strotram starts with Maa chanting "smasanakali ka kali, bradrakali kapalini guyakali mahakali, kurukullavirodhini". At first the sound seems to shock your very being but then it is replaced a sea of peace and tranquillity. Signing was always a joy, but the love and devotion that goes into Maa's singing has heightened that joy. One of my favourite parts of Navaratri is the early morning singing in the temple, this sets the pace for the start of the day by awakening Mother with devotional singing. I recall sitting in the temple one night during Shivatri listening to Maa offering praise to Lord Shiva in song and being completely and totally lost in an ocean of pure bliss with the dedication, the devotion, the love being expressed with ever word that existed Maa's lips. I kept wanting more and more. This discipline is very calming and quickly awakens the divine. Maa' s signing is my constant companion. At home, especially when doing the chores, as the bhajans take the mind away and makes the work light and enjoyable. At the end it is wonderful to have the privilege of offering a clean everything to Mother. Jai Maa Jai Swamiji
Guest guest
Thank you, Maadevi, for this wonderful post. I agree about the power of Maa's songs. They are often playing in my head, and on my stereo. When I am feeling lost (and even when I'm not!), I put on kirtan CDs and every part of me connects to it -- not only do my negative thoughts disappear, but my body changes as well, as it begins to respond to the vibrations of the sound. Recently, I was at a kirtan that was led by Wah! (a popular kirtan singer on the 'circuit' these days). At one point she said (and I paraphrase), I don't eat very much. My singing feeds me. And it is true -- chanting and singing does feed both our body and soul. To quote a blessing of Maa's -- " ...May music rise in your heart and may you see Divine Spirit always. Guest guest
Often, I listen to devotional songs and bhajans while I am washing dishes or doing other chores. :-) They make me feel so good and their energy keeps me going. I have received several free cd's from the bookstore online along with my book orders and I wish to thank the person in charge for having thoughtfully provided them to me. Om Jai Ma Kali! Om Namah Shivaya!
