Namaste Amar and greetings. there is much information about Shree Maa

and Swami in the Devi Mandir web site: www.shreemaa.org

Maa is a Saint, a realized Holy Mother, living in America for many

years. Her biography is very helpful: LIVING WITH THE SOUL,

available for order at the web site.

Swami is a Sadhu and Master, having spend 30+ years in India studying

and performing the Chandi and Cosmic Puja after learning them from a

Realized Master. Ramakrishna is Maa's Guru and He told Her and Swami

to come to America to teach devotees how to worship and be a living

example of Pure devotion in this world.

They chant the CHandi with devotees at the Devi Mandir every Sunday at

9:30 AM Pacific time and it is broadcast live on the web, again on the

Devi Mandir web site. You should join, you will experience the Chandi

as you never have before, and if you have a good computer connection,

you can chant right along with us.

Some of the things which Maa and Swami do to help devotees experience

deeper values of Maa Chandi while chanting are: performing pranayama

during the recitation of the 700 verses. They chant 2 verses to the

breath during most of the 700 verses. This really helps one become

more energized and focused while chanting. Also, they want devotees

to sit on the floor, in an asan, and do not raise their knees off the

floor during the entire recitation. If you watch the Sunday Chandi

on-line, you will experience these techniques and can incorporate them

into your practice if you do not do them now.

Maa and Swami state that it is very important to know why you are

chanting the Chandi, or performing any type of worship. So, they have

created discourses discussing the entire Chandi. They are stored on

the Devi Mandir web site. Swami discusses every chapter of the Chandi,

line by line, with such joy and wisdom, that you know Maa Chandi has

blessed him with Her darshan many times.

Maa and Swami also tell us it is important to have a reason, or goal,

for chanting. For example, Swami always asks for pure devotion in

Chapter 13 when Chandi comes to give a boon upon completion of the 700

verses. If one has a goal, one can know how one is progressing. Of

course, each person decides what goal works best for them.

I have been chanting the Chandi with Maa and Swami for the last 3.5

years, every Sunday. Divine Mother has not manifested in a great

vision, nor have I sat in bliss during the Chandi, but, my

relationship with Her has grown deeper in many ways. I feel Her in my

heart when I am still, and increasingly, when I am in activity. I

remember Her more often, and She blesses me in so many ways, I cannot

count them. Life is fuller and richer because I chant the Chandi, and

perform Durga and Shiva puja daily.

Also, Maa and Swami state that satsunga, meeting with other devotees

to share experiences and love and sing and dance, is very important.

While this group provides a virtual satsunga, it is great to get

together with others face to face and share the love you feel, and

hear how others are experiencing Mother Divine in their lives.

I hope these comments help. Welcome to our virtual family.

Jai Ma Jai Swami
