Guest guest
Dear friends, Thank you for the valuable replies concerning my quaery on flowers. The weather is not as cold in England as it is in Germany (-10?? wow), but I'm facing the same problem as Alex with regard to finding flowers. So my solution at the moment, in line with what is stated in the Bhagavadgita, would be to offer leaves. Obviously, I will have to adapt the Sanskrit formula in the puja. I now have another question I have been meaning to ask for a while. Please do not hate me for this! ;-) I would like to know what the suggested way to offer prasad is. I haven't come across any information on this on the Devi Mandir website, but if I missed it, please excuse me. My understanding of the process is this: the food is prepared with attention, and not tasted until ready; then a portion of the food is transferred into the puja plate, and 'offered' by chanting prayers. At the moment, I'm lighting a candle, chanting the Saptashloki and a mantra. It's a simple process, as I try and do it as frequently as possible (although not half as much as I should!). Once the food has been accepted, it is mixed with the rest and consumed. I was wondering if you have any further suggestions or advice regarding this practice: I'm really very ignorant and might be missing something! As usual, I thank you in advance. Jai Maa!
