Guest guest
Namaste Joan: sounds like you are having a great time, and that is the goal. I too have expanded, and do many parts of the Cosmic Puja daily, specifically worshiping each of the Gods / Goddesses, Maa and Swami, and Ramakrishna and Sarada Devi, and the 9 planets. Yes, it is fun, and more engaging, to worship all the different aspects of God. Each has a different bhava, flavor, and each enlivens a different part of me. I began this practice prior to Maa's trip to India as a result of a talk with Swami. He asked what sadhana I was doing, and after I replied Shiva and Durga pujas daily, he suggested that I expand and do something new each day, adding 15 minutes to my worship. Well, I really took that to heart, and opened the Cosmic Puja text looking for mantras which attracted me. Several days later, I moved into the Mandir to act as caretaker while they were gone, and had the great privilege of being able to sit in front of the main altar every night and worship. Each night as I began the mantras, I would become so happy and charmed by them, and the tremendously powerful feeling of love coming from the Deities on the altar, that I would chant many more mantras than I planned. So it continued for 30 days. Each day, I couldn't wait to sit down, and when done, I felt so fulfilled. Now I have moved back home. I miss the powerful presence of the Deities, and whenever I return to the Mandir, I go to the Temple to say hello and bow to them. The Mandir is truly the Home of the Gods. What good fortune to have had the chance to sit in the presence of such love and perform worship. I wish that all our Divine Family can come and visit the Mandir and have this powerful experience. it will change your life. I have finished reading the Adavanced Shiva Puja and have gone back to actually practicing the Beginner Shiva Puja. I have also made a vow to worship the appropriate Deities every day of the week (Kali on Saturday, Shiva on Monday, Durga on Tuesday, etc) using Swamiji's texts. I am finding that I learn more that way and that it keeps my mind engaged because they all have similar elements but are unique as well. And it is a delight to be able to do the worship of each divinity, as they are all Parts of the Whole, which is to me Shiva/Shakti. This is fun to me! I have such a good time! Sometimes I am reading them in Sanskrit and sometimes in English, just to get the meaning clear in my head. I am listening to the pujas that I have on CD. I offer what is immediately available. I don't mind spending 5 or 6 dollars a week at this point to have some fresh flowers, but sometimes > there are no really good ones available or the amount of fresh flowers are not what I would wish. And sometimes I have an abundance! I am, as Swami invites on the back of the one of the pujas, enjoying the priviledge of worship. Oh yes I am!! My mind does not hold still very well, but I can worship and offer lights and clothing and flowers. And just a little bit of that peace we pray for in the introductory parts of the pujas filters into me each time. A little more and a little more every day! Jai Shree Maa! Jai Swamiji! >
