May your year be filled with infinite bliss, peace, pure love and excellent heatlh! Today happens to be the 7th day of the bright fortnight and what an auspicious day to begin the New year by praying for health and welfare of all with the MM mantra! Please remember to recite the MM manra at least 27 times today, January 3, 2009. A special prayer will be offered this evening for all of the prayer club participants and recipients. On the side-bar of the Home Page of the website is a " Welcome " link. It takes us to options to both " join " the Prayer Club, and also to list anyone whom we want to request prayers for. Can I share a little story with all of you about prayer? In 1992, while pilgrimaging to India for the first time with Shree Maa and Swamiji, I had the blessed opportunity to pray the Catholic Rosary with Mother Theresa and the Sisters of Charity in their Chapel in Kolkata. In between each decade of the rosary (1 Our Father and 10 Hail Marys), I could hear Mother Theresa quietly saying a whole list of people's names, many of whom I recognized to be the leaders of many of the countries of the world. At the time I remember thinking, so this is what is meant to " pray unceasingly " . And then some few years after this awakening, I received a phone call from my father in the last 6 months of his illness (and life). He was describing his suffering on the physical level, and just how much time it took him each day just to clear his lungs so he could breathe. He very quietly shared with me that some days he secretly wished that his life would just end. So I asked him, " Dad, do you see any meaning in your suffering now " ? After a few moments of silence on his end he answered, " Now, I have the time to pray for the whole world " . Just like Shree Maa and Swami Satyananda, there are so many saints and other people in our lives who are inspiring us to pray unselfishly and unceasingly for others.
