Guest guest
Namaste Kamala and Everyone, Thank you for your lovely letter. To pray unceasingly is indeed the crown of our sadhana. What a wonderful man your father is/was. One of the disciples of Sri Ramakrishna said that no matter what our Japa mantra is, the meaning is always “ Mother have mercy on us”. If our japa is enforced and supported by sankalpa, then, even if there are dry periods in our practice, we are able to carry on. Our sankalpa should be “do-able” for our level of practice and we should hang on to it as if it were the most important thing in the whole world. If we are able to carry out a sankalpa to it’s conclusion, this will slowly build “spiritual force” in us, to take on a new sankalpa. Often, the more we commit the greater the inner resistance gets. All the Asuras come, all the seeds of desire sprout and all we can do is to hang on to japa and sankalpa. So often things seemingly get harder for us and life brings up more difficulties. It is Mother’s way to purify us with fire and we must try to turn these dry and difficuly periods into times of “useful” suffering – since deep in that dark well Mother dwells and holds out her arms to embrace us. Kamala I feel that your father was going toward that embrace. Jai Maa!!!!! With love, usha
