Guest guest
Namaste Chetan, Dan, and all: Chetan and Dan, I read each of your posts regarding " mixing different deities " into 1 puja. I felt that this was a good question for Swami so I have sent him a message asking the pros and cons of mixing. In my personal experience, I have performed Shiva puja and Durga puja every day for many years. I concentrate on each as a separate distinct energy and feeling, then when I have completed one puja, I go to the next. When I felt that I had more to explore with Shiva, and I had memorized the entire Beginner's Shiva Puja, then I added components of Shiva worship from the Advanced Shiva Puja text. I added the Buddha shuti, Shiva Kavach, the advanced Shiva meditation, 108 names of Shiva, 1008 names of Shiva, etc. The same can be done with Beginner's Durga Puja: adding to it Her 108 names and the worship of the 9 Durgas, etc., from the Cosmic Puja Text. Swami has told us many times that we can customize pujas to suite our needs and desires and the amount of time we have to worship. So, as I could sit still longer in my asan, and as I desired to commune longer with Shiva or Durga, the mantras were available to add onto my original 20-30 minute pujas, and extend them to 45+ minutes each. During the last 2 months, I have been learning the Cosmic puja, which worships all of the major Gods and Goddesses in 1 long puja. In that format, a puja is done to each Deity, then one moves onto the next. There is a weaving and joining of the different energies into a beautiful wholeness, as opposed to the worship of 1 deity alone. After 11 years of performing Shiva and Durga pujas every day, I feel a new level of coherence and awakening occurring. I look forward to welcoming and worshiping and enlivening each deity inside me, and on my altar, each day. I feel as if I am on a voyage of discovery, and the intermingling and enlivenment of these different energies has really accelerated my growth. This is my personal voyage of discovery. While Maa and Swami have opened many different doors for me, they have left me to decide which path I will take. It is unfolding based on my personal evolution, including the impulses inside and around me, and, as I grow, it has changed and expanded. I am certain there is more excitement and variety to come and I am so fortunate to be able to share it all with you all. When Swami gives us an answer, I will post it. This is a very interesting question. Jai Ma Jai Swami vishweshwar -- In , Chetan Merani <meranicv wrote: > > Dear Ones, > I am stumped! Why this desire to oscillate between two distinct and different thought forces and identities. I thought the very idea of Sadhana (Puja and Path) is to develop total and complete concentration of mind without which Sidhi (reaching the goal of enlightenment) is not possible. Sri Ramakrishna used to say: respect and bow before all deities and paths but do your sadhana devoted to your chosen Ishta. Once perfection is achieved and goal is reached, it will be easy to pursue other paths if so desired. He has demonstrated it in his life. > Namaskar > chetan >

Guest guest
yes! the gradual discovery that these are not distinct seperate pieces but one cosmic whole is to follow the duality back to the unity. to me shiva and shakti united as one, ardhaniswara is one of the highest principles concievable. energy and form as one. the paradox of puja is that it imposes the idea that there is 2. the worshipper and the worshipped. but as we go deeper we merge until we are the deity hearing the puja being recited by the deity. id also like to clarify that when i have suggested the use of several aspects of workship together i didnt mean skip around. make ganesh time, make shiva time, make ma time. or whatever one likes. if the shiva time means just 1 round of mala for this day then that is it. and then lots of chandi time. they will be so happy. (they are one) the holy trinity. and the next day if we do a whole shiva puja, and after our ma time is a simple thanking her. that i feel is wonderful too. it keeps us in worship, and i feel that this is the most important thing! lovee and light, jai swamiji, jai ma! dan shubalanddurga Thu, 8 Jan 2009 5:13 pm Re: [www.ShreeMaa.org] to Chetan, Dan, and all: the harmony of worship Wonderful and inspiring, Vish!
