Namaste all family: there is a wonderful teaching tool on the Devi

Mandir web site. Here is a link:

http://www.shreemaa.org/drupalCosmic.htm

Some time ago, swami introduced us to this and suggested we all read

and study it until we had it memorized. I hope each of you will dip

into this river of light and emerge with questions and thoughts to

ponder here on the club.

I look forward to having many discussions with everyone.

As we have been discussing boredom during worship, these lessons

remind us why we worship and how it all began.

Thank you vishweshwar for this invitation. I read this presentation

tonight and my heart was very touched. Here's a little intro for

anyone who may not have taken it in yet:

We said to God, " We know there is one God, and that He is infinite

and beyond conception. But we can't have a relationship with

something that is Infinite and beyond conception. How can we have a

relationship with You? Give us something finite that we can

conceive. "

And God replied, " If you can't see Me everywhere in everything, then

first practice to see Me in specific places and specific things.

Take the clay from the bank of the river, meditate and pray, and

through your hands divine forms will become manifest. "

And we asked God, " How can forms made from clay from the river by our

own hands be divine? "

And God replied, " These forms were conceived from your divine longing

only for the purpose of receiving your devotion, and they have no

other function other than to represent the highest aspirations of

divinity. Therefore, they are divine. "

So we went down to the river, scooped up the clay and prayed, and

these are the forms of our devotion, the deities of the Cosmic Puja. "

The beauty of these deities is beyond...well, it's beyond.

Does anyone have any other stories about how the deities came into

being? I'm enchanted. Thank you, and thank you thank you thank you

for all of the blessings, wisdom, and grace of this community. Thank

you, Shree Maa and Swami, for making this Cosmic Puja, and all forms

of worship at the Devi Mandir, so accessible and understandable and

delightful and transformative for all who long for it. Peace to all,

Jennifer
