Guest guest
Namaste all family: this is Shiva's Month. Chant His name, study His text, perform puja to Him, and worhsip Him all night on Shivaratri, Sunday, February 22nd. This is a wonderful time to become closer to Him. Let me share a story of how I became closer to Maa and Shiva this day, Monday, Shiva's Day. Today I was performing puja at Napashwar, the large Shiva lingum in the woods at the Mandir. After puja I was sitting meditating and Maa came to see Napashwar. She observed that I had not cleaned His drinking cup and it was tarnished and dull and the lingum was not completely cleaned. " How could you offer dull cup that to the Lord? " She asked me. Abashed, I replied truthfully, " I was lazy and did not clean it Maa. " She replied, " You show your respect to the Lord by keeping all the articles of worship clean and polished. The cleaner and brighter they are, the more you will receive from Him. " I had thought to clean the utensils Sunday, but was tired and did not. So, Maa gave me Her darshan, taught me a valuable lesson, and brought me closer to Shiva. After She left, I spend the next 2 hours cleaning, polishing, and shining every square inch of the lingum, Ganesh and Nandi murtis, and the utensils. All were bright and glowing in the late afternoon Sun when I finished. Truly, Shiva was Happy, smiling, and full of love. I felt His blessing deep in my heart. I tell this story to you all so that you can come closer to Him too. Make your altar into a shining Temple to Shiva, and He will bless you. As Swami said tonight in class, performing puja is practice for the arrival of Shiva at your altar, and into your heart. Shiva watches everything we do, and tests us, and when He sees we are ready, He will come. So, prepare your heart, your mind, your body, and your Temple for Him. Don't delay, for His Grace is worthy of all the effort we can give. Grace is: as we give, so shall we get. Thanks Maa for reminding me of this more profound teaching.
